Before my two kids came to Ebony and Ivory, we went through a number of piano and violin teachers with varying degrees of success, but none of them could really inspire my kids. I don’t know how to write this review without sounding overboard, but that’s exactly how I feel when it comes to our piano teacher Gerardo. Gerardo is a really passionate musician who knows all about music in its many aspects – he plays multiple instruments, composes, teaches, makes musical sessions for the elderly and sometimes I think he even flies around the world saving people. He is an absolutely amazing person and an active performer who has also helped organise concerts for our kids to play in. I always liked violin and was sceptical about the importance of piano lessons until I heard him play for the first time. What is very important to note is that he is also very passionate about his students and kind-hearted and supports them through both the good and bad times, always finding the right words to say when they’re in doubt, or the right joke when they’re scared and immerses them in beautiful music which definitely helps them through all the ups and downs of their lives.

It’s been an absolute pleasure having Gerardo as my daughter’s piano teacher for the past two years. Since the beginning he has acknowledged the challenge of tutoring a 13y.o girl who was loosing the inspiration and almost gave up her piano practice.
As an experienced tutor, Gerardo sensed my daughter’s strengths and weaknesses, allowing her to work at her own pace. His lessons were tailored in such a way that the student began to love playing again. My daughter enjoys her lessons so much, that she looks forward to it all week. Presently, she has successfully passed her
ABRSM piano grades 6 ,7 and grade 5 theory exams with Gerardo playing a key role in all of it.
With him, no single lesson is the same.
Aside the piano, my daughter learnt about a variety of musical instruments and has taken few voice training lessons from Gerardo as well (he has a brilliant voice himself, I must say). He has great facilities and techniques to develop the student’s potential in that area of music too (this can be very useful for the oral test which is part of ABRSM exams or as a separate subject).
Gerardo has an absolute passion for music and his teaching skills take the students beyond the average learning and practicing of the standard music program.
I feel, he brilliantly and effortlessly nurtures the student’s taste and love for classical music. He is able to easily deal with any difficulties that may arise during lessons, making the learning natural and enjoyable.
I can’t recommend Gerardo enough to parents who wish to give their children the opportunity of being tutored by a passionate and knowledgeable professional who has a deeper insight into the wider world of music. And above all, is very sensitive to the needs of children.
